If every man knew..

Your chest is so warm.

I close my eyes here and melt.

I am safe finally. My bones unlock. My body relinquishes the desire to escape I wave the flag and you wrap around me.

It’s clear that this is what my heart has been yearning for, that it was never something I could give myself and the bravery to admit that feels dire.

Your ‘love’ for me is irrelevant, I know love as a dance and a trick.

I know love as an empty promise a guess, a quiver a fleeting moment and a rush of courage under a midnight haze.

But this is different.

This is the masculine; setting my heart free.

It’s nothing like what I can feel on my own; I cannot find this strength in anything other than God, you make it real.

I wish to curl up here; I could fall away and meet only love and the most gentle part of myself, the one that needed everything and recieved it all with ease.

The delicate nature of who I am runs across the field of your chest, alive with the colour red, of trust that the world was never here to hurt me.

That there is nothing I need to fear; within your chest lies my palace; a kingdom - love’s resting place.

Your chest is the antivenom to the ache of unsafety that plagues my days with an eerie whisper. The constant state of hyperawareness built in to protect me.

I can close my eyes and not escape; I don’t fight myself with you.

I lay my weapons down in the morning as soon as i open my eyes; I am soft and flowing and open.

I breathe life and all its colours; my breath is full and alive.

I dance through the halls, I float across roads, my days coated in a kaleidoscopic haze.

The masculines container of presence, setting my heart free.
